Training In Construction

Open now: Short course construction tools. To register your interest fill our our form. Our last build workshop in March we stood frames and installed windows and doors. In two days the tiny home came together. The women involved learned that building a tiny home can be achieved with the right know how and practical skills. Sign up to be a part of our next workshop. Coming soon: Come train in a Certificate 1 Construction and gain not only the knowledge and skills to build your own tiny home but skills to go back into the workforce. We run a 6 month program to equip women with life and practical skills.

I am happy to say our last 12 months have been very successful. 

In partnership with The Twin Rivers Center, Dandelion Safe Homes Ltd. has trained 20 women in their Certificate 1 Construction, nearly finished a modular building and a Tiny home, with high employment rates and some even have reported this traineeship has saved their lives. 

Our program was in high demand and for good reason. There are not many certificate 1 traineeships where a woman can get paid to learn and get the level of experience they have received in our course. 

We started by in October 2024: Frames for the first home and some timber for work benches and bench seats for our lunch area. The floor was completed and the frame went up. November progressed along nicely and we had our first group finish their traineeship in March 2025.

The walls were clad and internal walls with VJ and MDF sheets. We got a little stuck with plumbing as out budget was extremely tight. This home is yet to be finished but not far off. We are looking for land for our home to be put to provide a long term solution to a women. Our second intake launched in April of 2025 with a new round of 10 women. The tiny home was started by the first crew who could not wait and started on the frame. This home has come together quicker as it is a smaller emergency accommodation option for women.

This one was a favorite and featured at the Tiny Homes Expo at the Cleveland Show Grounds in October 3-5 in 2025.

We have had amazing support from local and not so local companies all with a heart to assist with our cause. Many thanks to them.

2026 has started and our next two builds. One is a single level 6m long tiny home and the other is a donated 6x3 modular building we are fitting out as a long term home. We will keep you posted on our progress.

We are proud to dedicate this home in honor of Melissa Anderson founder of BLAQ Diamonds Women Empowerment. Melisa has worked for many years with first nations women around Australia bringing awareness to the impact of Domestic and Family Violence in her community. We wanted to recognize her work and support her vision for bringing this group of women into their fullness of beauty and life. This home will be used for emergency accommodation for women and children in our local Logan community.
